How are the stallholders selected?

The Afrika Festival Hertme's organisation selects participants of the African Market The organisation reserves the right to change the terms and conditions at any time without prior notice. Each pitch can only be used by the trader it is allocated to. An application is no guarantee of a placement. Placement is based on the quality of the goods/food/services of the individual trader and the diversity of the overall market.

What are the costs to trade at the African market?

What is the standard pitch size?

A standard pitch size is 3 x 2 metre, including the stand. Do you wish to add an extra stand or extend your pitch? Please confirm this in your application. This will entail additional costs.

Is er elektriciteit en water voorhanden op de standplaatsen? Do the stands come with power and water supply

Each stand has its own power supply at its disposal. Stands do not have their own water supply, but there will be plenty water supplies on the festival grounds.

What should I do if I wish to cancel my pitch?

Cancelling a pitch needs to be done in writing. If traders cancel later than 4 weeks prior to the start of the Afrika Festival Hertme, they shall be charged 50% of the participation costs. If cancelling later than 2 weeks prior to the start of the Afrika Festival Hertme, traders will not be eligible to reimbursement of the participation costs.

Are there quality standards the stallholders have to adhere to?

Any trader selling food for human consumption is expected to work according to the rules and regulations of the NVWA (Dutch Food and Goods Authority). The traders are responsible for the quality and hygiene standards. Food products must be offered in accordance with the hygiene rules and HACCP guidelines.

When is it possible to set up my stall?

The festival gates open on Saturday morning at 8 A.M. for stallholders.

Traders shall indemnify the organisation of the Afrika Festival Hertme against all costs, actions, claims and demands by any person or body arising from the exercise of their trading activities or those of their employees or representative. The organisation preserves the right to change the pitch location allocated to the trader. Traders are responsible for the quality of their goods. The festival's organisation cannot be held responsible for damage or injury to traders or visitors and their belongings, unless there is evidence of wilful misconduct or gross negligence by the festival's organisation.
